Thursday's Trend- Minty Color!

This week I was inspired by the fashions of the recent NYC Fashion Week. I absolutely love checking out the newest fashions trends. One color trend I noticed was the use of a minty green hue. I absolutely love the subtle tone.

Color Challenge- Spring is in the Air

I absolutely fell in love with this color inspiration! All the bight colors remind me of spring which is right around the corner (fingers crossed). We've had a mild winter here in NYC so I'm itching to break out the flip flops!

Introducing a new Thursday addition to my blog. I've made a personal commitment to put more time into crafting and blogging this year! In an effort to motivate and inspire myself (and other's of course) I will be posting a Thursday's Trendblog post. Here'I'll be posting anything that seems to be trending in the world of craft, design, fashion etc... I will also share my interpretation of the TREND in my own works! Sort of like my own personal challenge! Hopefully you will enjoy the posts and find them as inspirational as I do! So let' s dive right in!

Found this adorable set of notecards over on InvitaPaperStudio at ETSY. Love the color combo!

SO here's what I was inspired to create:

I used three - 1/2 in strips of diagonal pattern paper in coordinating colors and adhered them in alternating stripes to create a chevron pattern. I stamped a Thanks sentiment (loving this $1 stamp right now!) and punched mini hearts from the same paper. finished it off with a punched butterfly and some rhinestone gems!

Hi all! SO excited that I have no plans today! DH is heading out with the guys to watch the Football game which means I can craft away ALL DAY! I spent some time last night clearing up my scrap space ( I need a clean workstation to get me going!) and just made a cup of tea! SO off to work I go! ....I'll post some of my creations throughout the day! :)

I was in the mood to craft today but didn't have much time so I whipped up these quick mini cards for Valentine's. Just punched out hearts in coordinating paper and used pop dots to give it dimension. Stamped a sentiment and voila!

One of my 2012 commitments (I'm not a fan of 'resolutions') is to spend more time scrapbooking and crafting! When I saw the color combo for PDCC113 I knew I had to get to work! I absolutely love the inspiration clip that was posted - (especially the chic bed). I mad a simple card using the color combo (vanilla, mint, and juniper!) thanks for stopping by :)

Making up for lost time!

Since I have off this week (YAY!) I decided to dedicate some time to scrapbooking and crafting. I really didn't get the chance to do any scrapping this month. The holidays just seemed to "take-over". I started by cleaning out my scrappy supplies. I unloaded a ton of scraps which I really don't use and made room for new goodies! I stumbled upon some layouts which I completed back in October. Thought I'd post some pics and share!

Using Ribbon

When growing up I always looked forward to decorating for the holidays! My brother and I would help my mom put up the tree, hand the stockings, and set up the nativity. after we finished that initial phase of decorating I remember my mother would then go around the house putting bows on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! As a teenager I thought she was crazy -we would have ribbons on the tree, on candle holders even around the hand towels in the bathroom (seriously)! I wasn't until I got married and began to decorate my own home that I realized I loved that tradition. I have found myself year after year breaking out the ribbons for the Holiday season! I have to say - my MOM was right (ouch!) Everything is more festive when you put a bow on it. It gives a special touch to simple everyday objects!

This year I added bows to our stockings and jazzed up a frame from a discount store!

Holiday Decorating Ideas!

I love to try out decorating ideas in my home, especially during the holiday season. My friends and family always ask me..how did you do that? or how did you ever think of that? So I've decided to share these ideas that I stumble upon. Make no mistake - I'm not a professional decorator and do not claim to be - I just love playing around with different ideas and tweaking them to fit my style!

For Christmas I love displaying holiday ornaments in glass jars. I found mini glass balls and used them to fill a glass hurricane candle holder in my entryway.

I also used a mix of mini-balls and regular sized ornaments to fill 3 apothecary jars in my ding room.

Okay... so I've seen so much work with Kraft paper lately hat I decided I HAD to give it a try! ( I know what you're thinking - why wait so long? ) Anyway I am so surprised at how much I love it! It's a great neutral with any color combo! Take a look at some of the projects I've used it on!

I used my Cricut and SCAL 2 to cut the scalloped circle and butterflies. Stamped "Thanks!" and finished off with black ribbon and a colored pearl gem.

I made this plaque to remind me that the simplest things can make you smile! (even if it is a collection of buttons) I pre-cut a heart and glued buttons using a glue gun. I printed the saying "happiness is handmade" on white cardstock then attached the button heart to the cardstock. Insert into a frame and it's done. This would be a great gift for anyone. Think pink or blue for a newborn's nursery ;)

I found the AC letterbox stack at homegoods for $7! Couldn't pass up these spring themed papers with glitter. The butterfly papers cheered me up during this rainy weekend in NYC!

Cute little notepads

Made these cute notepads as gifts. Each one measures 4 x 5.5 inches and is embellished with a paper flower. I used a glue gun to adhere the papers together and create a pad.
