Bottles, laundry, house cleaning...the list goes on. My days are full of mundane new mommy chores and minimal sleep. We are still trying to navigate our ways as new parents to this adorable little guy! We will get there....someday....fingers crossed!<br />
<br />
Here's some pics of week 5,6,and 7. I felt a little stressed trying to do two page spreads for some of the weeks so I decided to make weeks 5 and 6 single page layouts. I didn't really take many pics those weeks either.<br />

I can spend hours just snapping away trying to capture that perfect little smirk. I end up with dozens of pics of the same exact moment yet somehow he manages to look completely different in all of them. Thousands of photos later my iPhone is telling me I have run out of storage! Ooops...How can I ever delete any of these pics???<br />
<br />
I had a professional photographer come to the house when Baby Vin was 3 weeks old for one of those adorable newborn photo sessions that I obsessed over for months on Pinterest! They are adorable and I'm so glad I did it. But I couldn't help feeling the sense that I paid for something I could have done myself. I am one of those people who looks at things and says...Oh I can do that myself, why pay for it? So when Valentine's Day rolled around, I thought...I got this!<br />
<br />
I set up a pillow with a cute textured blanket, put him a Valentine's onesie and snapped away! Granted he was 2 months old so he was slightly easier to handle, I think I did a pretty good job!<br />
<br />
Here's a layout I made using pics form my mini "at-home" photo session!<br />

This weekend I was surfing my favorite scrapbooking site, Two Peas in a Bucket, for some inspiration. If you are not familiar with this site you MUST check it out- I guarantee you will not be disappointed. This year they introduced something new. Each day they feature one of their designers, as they call them "Garden Girls", in a video series. Each series features it's own theme and challenge that encourages you to play along.<br />
<br />
This week I found inspiration in the <a href="http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/projects/videos/1890131-seeing-double-simply-the-best/">Seeing Double</a> video. This video showcased the use of circles in your layout and cards.<br />
<br />
Here's they layout I made.<br />
<br />
I thought using circles on a page about my sons bubble bath was a natural fit.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut various sized circles from patterned paper using my Cricut then embellished with brads, tags, and stickers, all in the circular shape. </div>

It seems to me that the life of a new mom is pretty boring. Maybe not so boring but definitely monotonous! Seems like every time I start a project Little Vin wakes up! Don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE being a mommy to this precious boy but with Daddy working double shifts mommy doesn't get much time to herself! I brushed my teeth today...Right?!?!?<br />

This year's festivities didn't go on as planned. We usually go to a party at a finds house but the weather didn't cooperate. We had a light dusting of snow here in NYC so the hubby was called in to work the night shift. Poor guy has to miss the big game! That means that the little man and I are home alone missing daddy :( I'm not a big football fan so that means it's more of a <i>Law and Order</i> kind of day now!<br />
<br />
Thought I'd share a couple of cards I previously made but never got a chance to share!<br />

Staying home with a newborn sure has its moments. The days all seem to blend together at this point. I really can't complain though. Baby Vin hasn't quite slept through the night yet but I feel like we are making progress. He's only been waking up once for a feeding then goes right back to bed. (Thank God for small miracles) During the day he takes his naps in between feedings and playtime. There's absolutely nothing in this world better than his face looking up at me and cracking a sweet smile! I've been told by almost every mom to "sleep when he sleeps" but for some reason I just can't! There's always a pile of dishes to be washed, clothes that need to be folded or craft supplies calling my name(lol)!<br />
<br />
Those of you that have visited this blog may have seen my Project Life pages. I'm so excited to be able to use this process to document all of the little moments of our life as a new family. However, nothing gives me more satisfaction than completing a traditional 12 x 12 layout!<br />
<br />
I took this self pic with my iPhone, hence the grainy photo. Even though it's not a high quality photo, I fell in love with it!<br />

I used the Pebbles Family Ties Collection for color inspiration (patterned papers, sticker embellishments) along with some flowers, brads, punched hearts and journal cards. For the title I used American Crafts Burlap Memo Thickers. </div>

As you can tell I like my layouts to be symmetrical and use mainly geometric patterns. For my next layout I plan to branch out and get in touch with my artistic self! Can't wait to share it with you!</div>

Looking forward to the weekend even though we're expecting some snow, which means the hubby will be putting in extra hours. I guess its a good excuse to pop in a movie, make some hot chocolate, and snuggle with my little man.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This week, while organizing my scrap space, I came across some long lost items. First I found some embossing powders which I haven't seen in who knows how long. They were hidden behind a cute little container with small embellishments. This sent me on a search for my heat gun and embossing pad, which took a while but I found it! This got me thinking - why would these things not be stored together? (I feel a re-organization post coming soon!) I immediately whipped out some stamps and started playing around. I forgot how much I loved watching the embossing powder change under the heat! - Crazy right?!?! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I stamped some hearts onto kraft card stock using a stamp from the $1 bin at Michael's. I then embossed it using a clear glitter powder. I cut out the heart and attached it to this cute little tag. I am currently obsessed with this light blue-pink color combo! Perfect for Valentine's Day. I added a splash of green and that's when it hit me! This was the color combo of my teen-age bedroom in the 90's. Maybe that's why I like it so much! </div>

I used coordinating papers in a a light blue polka-dot and stripe and added an Amy Tan 'love' embellishment, along with the embossed heart. You can also see a strip of pink heart patterned paper. I used wash-tape in coordinating colors and some brads to give it more dimension. Topped it off with some baker's twine, a mini-punched heart and sweet sentiment.</div>

I've had my iPhone for a couple of years now. I was pretty much forced to get one by my techno geek hubby. (I luv u!) He is obsessed with technology and all Apple products. I swear if you put an "i" in front of it - he would buy it! I never really understood the need for a smartphone, that is until I started using one. I can't imagine NOT being able to have my email, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at my fingertips. How in the heck did I survive without FaceTime?<br />
It may seem crazy but my phone is the first thing I look at in the morning and the last thing I look at before bed. I can't be the only one who does this....RIGHT?!?!?! :/<br />
<br />
In addition to social media sites I also love playing games and using apps to get ideas for recipes, decorating, and crafting. In my search for some scrappy apps I came across a couple that I thought I'd share. Both apps are free and offer ideas to get you crafting! It would be a great idea to combine the ideas from these two apps together for fabulous inspiration.<br />
<br />
Layout a Day - FREE<br />
<br />
Layout a Day is a free app that gives you daily inspiration for layouts. Each day a offers a different challenge to spice up your scrapbooking projects. Whether its a layout theme idea or embellishment suggestion I think this is a cute little app that can offer that little spark when you need some motivation. This app doesn't necessarily need to be used for traditional layouts. I plan on adding some of these ideas to my Project Life 2013 album. The site offers an archive of previous posts as well. <br />
<br />
Today's inspiration is to scrapbook your commute.<br />

I'm really enjoying this project. I ended up ordering the Becky Higgins Turquoise Kit, which I love. I like the idea of the coordinating cards but I definitely need a little bit of variety in my albums. I love geometric patterns, which this kit definitely has, but I also like to mix bright colors. This particular kit is somewhat limited in that area. So I found myself adding alot of embellishments and even patterned papers to the pages. For example, on the Week 2 page below I took a rather bland 3 x 4 card and punched it up a little. I wanted to keep the grid and ruler design so I covered the bottom phrase using a bright polka dot patterned paper and pink circle tag. <br />

Week 1, so far so good. It took me a while to finish my week 1 pages because I had to download and order pics online. I definitely need to look into an at-home photo printer. Anyway, I caved and ordered the Becky Higgins Turquoise Kit. (so much for that "save more $" resolution - oh well) I love the ease of using these pre-formatted cards but I still can't help myself from embellishing and adding in other patterned papers. I don't know what it is but the pics and cards alone just don't do it for me!<br />

I usually go all out when it comes to decorating for the holidays. It's one of my favorite things to do. Well actually, I think it the<i> shopping</i> for decorations that I like. Whenever I come home armed with a shopping bag from Homegoods or Target the hubby gives me the <i>"great more stuff I have to lug down from the attic"</i> look. (In all seriousness I do need to organize the attic one day...soon;)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I haven't really had a chance to shop much, what with an adorable 5 week old at home now. Being a mom to Little Vincent is absolutely amazing btw. SO I decided to make some decorations this year. I wanted to make something quick and simple. I use basic kraft paper and cut 3.5" x 4.5" rectangles. Then I used a scallop punch to add a little something to the bottom of each flag. I cut the letters and hearts using Cricut Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge. Added some ribbon and rhinestone bling to top it off.</div>

I recently found an old heart punch and was immediately inspired to use it! I punched a bunch of hearts from some patterned scraps and card stock. I wanted to mix up the typical pinks and reds used for Valentine's Day so I sprinkled in some grey with the stripe and polka dot. I love it!<br />

With a newborn baby I thought this would be a great way to document all of the fun (and not so fun) events of 2013. It seems like a fairly easy way to put an album together while still allowing the freedom of creativity. I'm not planning on making this album strictly an album for my son but more as a way to highlight all our 1st year as a family. I didn't order any PL "kits" although I love the Project Life <a href="http://www.beckyhiggins.com/products/">Core Kit Baby edition</a>. I used some of the Simple Stories Sn@p Cards, We R -"Albums Made Easy" cards, and Recollections journaling pad from Michael's. I'm sure I will end up buying a kit (or two) from the PL line. Here are some pics of the Title Page...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

These are three 2 x 4 We R cards from the noteworthy collection. I embellished with some stickers and printed the journaling from my computer. (I absolutely despise my handwriting).<br />

Love this pic of our new family but my father in law ended up getting in the background of the shot so I used some embellishments to cover him up! LOL (that will be our little secret)<br />

I hope I can keep up with this album throughout the year! On December 7th DH and I welcomed our little miracle, Vincent Matthew, into the world! He has truly changed our lives in unimaginable ways these past few weeks! I'm looking forward to documenting this year of our life using Project Life. Here's a link to <a href="http://www.beckyhiggins.com/products/what-is-project-life.php">Becky Higgins</a> site which I plan to use to help complete this album! I love the idea of documenting the little moments in life. As a new mom I can't wait to showcase all of the fun things our new family will do. I know I will look back upon this project a year from now and be able to see how my little man has grown.Julie Misserihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10731555749699736756noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135232977440969712.post-31429344183917598602012-09-24T18:57:00.001-04:002012-09-24T18:57:46.299-04:00Couldn't help Myself...I came home from work today and there it was. Sitting on my doorstep was a plain brown shipping box that could only mean one thing - My online order of craft supplies had arrived! It's been a while since I've actually made any significant scrappy purchase so I was super excited to tear into that box. When I did it was pure joy - (YES - paper and stickers make me happy) Among my order were 2 Simple Stories collections - Fall and Christmas. I bought the fall themed pack not only because I love all things related to this time of year but because I thought I would get a lot of use out of the patterned paper. I also ordered the Christmas pack (it's never too early) because my little man will be here just around the Holiday Season and I can't wait to start scrapbooking our new family!<br />

I decided to dive right in and made these two tags. Wow! It's been a while since I have posted on my blog! The last few months have been kind of a whirl-wind for me and my husband! WE found out in April that we are expecting! This December we will welcome our first child (a boy) into the world! We are absolutely thrilled! SO I thought I would share a project that I made for our little man's nursery. I used my Cricut to die cut the letters and stars and simply glued them to framed poster board. I saw a similar wall hanging on a visit to the Paper Source this summer. The theme of the room is airplanes and the colors will be navy, light blue, grey and splashed of red. Thanks for stopping by!Julie Misserihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10731555749699736756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135232977440969712.post-85158185277976537022012-04-12T13:00:00.000-04:002012-04-12T13:00:01.959-04:00Pitstop SnapshotYou know when you start a layout and the creative juices are flowing? You're on a roll and it feels like nothing can get in your way? Well this was one of those layouts. The patterns and colors came together nicely. I found a bunch of embellishment from different collections that all gelled with the layout. I was able to use brads (which I haven't used on many recent layouts), stick pins, stickers, chipboard, twine, and some hand cut images. I love when Everything comes together so easily!<br />

I really haven't been scrapping layouts lately. I've been creating more cards and crafts, so when I came across this pic in an old stash I knew I had to scrap it! The pic is from a trip I took with my husband, brother, his girl friend, and our parents. We DROVE to Disney world in a mini-van. We saw billboards for South of the Border for hundreds of miles. I definitely didn't want to stop but I was out voted!Julie Misserihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10731555749699736756noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135232977440969712.post-10818441165743511582012-03-30T19:05:00.003-04:002012-03-30T19:14:07.477-04:00Cupcake Toppers<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>I don't know what it is about the springtime but it seems that all of my friends and family members celebrate their birthdays during the months of March, April and May. (This includes my own birthday in May!) My brother has asked me to make a slew of cupcakes for a party he's planning for his girlfriend next week. I thought it would be cute to make some toppers to jazz them up a little bit! </div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Take a look at these adorable cupcake toppers! They were so simple to make. I just printed out the "Happy Birthday" sentiment and attached it to a trimmed flag cut from card stock! <div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjc5wa96F3b6tBgCkKo6Gmr6Z_-zaJuYGdh8vEM45uAM9sXLJGP0m6tD6smKYCumk_ZRZ7o3_FJkA5fsjpYRfotcGxtQPBDtGmlyoldBM5vU_b5M_hld5OHhX-3ExY4Lc0MC2fF6e9D/s400/DSCN0361.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725832184417843490" /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I also tried my hand at the pinwheels. After a long week I can sit down with a glass of wine and get crafty. I'm so looking forward to completing some projects tonight. But before I started crafting I wanted to share a pic of a wreath I made. <div><br /></div><div>As you may know Pinterest is my newest obsession. I've seen a bunch of different wreath tutorials so I decided to try one. With Spring around the corner I thought I'd make a cute little wreath to spruce up the entry.</div><div><br /><div>I used a 12" straw wreath as the base. I bought this type instead of the styrofoam because it was $2 less but after working with all that straw I will definitely be splurging the extra 2 bucks next time! :P I hot glued one end of a burlap ribbon to the wreath and just wrapped it around. I hot glued the other end of the burlap to the backside of the wreath. Then I just cut and glued these cute flowers and added the leaves........and voila!</div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmGKZ4jaGUyRgQb9rHzALMDu3OiZgRv6YQrV4OMKAa46EZ0UV-8ib3FPYOH4966eiu8aR6iGoishVAJzbwaAmHiRhnNrY4UAQDB0X0rst_QjFXCMPwNPzm7mazvsNqFX1wRk7JBpXm/s400/DSCN0392.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5720612191464491778" /><div><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSaW1qZtAulzYE0LCjM2iQVW-yvudSpRu3tn5GNnR2_12QyurZnpKz6baYVRF6_3t3tBuAdTSsP7DEoK8N_aQPTNh2TRU00d1rZo_enjmLYqqzoo7uNuMJyzacpBBom11j6swXkqY9/s400/DSCN0391.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5720612182688703874" /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I love how it turned out. I can't wait to make another one! </div></div>Julie Misserihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10731555749699736756noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135232977440969712.post-73524055067671869652012-03-11T19:09:00.002-04:002012-03-11T19:16:30.124-04:00Lucky in Love Banner<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>What a beautiful Sunday! Today my husband and I spent the day with his family celebrating his Grandfather's 92nd birthday! It was a gorgeous day spent with family who we don't get to see very often. The weather is amazing and thanks to daylight savings we score an extra hour of sunlight! I don't know what it is but the extra light gives me just that bit of energy I need to close out my day.<div><br /><div>Thought I'd take advantage of this energy and post a pic of a banner I made for a friend who is getting married on St. Patrick's Day. They're going with the whole green theme so I thought this was a cute little decoration to add to her day.</div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 237px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcR98o1gziyz7J36LpO6Z-mKC7dJWbsYSu96Io6HrwH_QQjajfFX16kuAOLB9qCcf1sRG7ggFBqIcZQkB4nsleD_Fr4loibpKISsWvtR13ojCR3oEL42mJgJRpagCqAkcBfBVriCpS/s400/DSCN0384.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5718782229294980642" /></div>Julie Misserihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10731555749699736756noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135232977440969712.post-22924140334845886082012-03-04T14:16:00.003-05:002012-03-04T14:28:28.749-05:00Mini Chalk boards<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>If you follow my posts you know by now that I have an addiction to Pinterest! I can spend hours browsing through the yummy pics for inspiration and ideas. In my pinning I have seen different craft ideas for using chalk-board paint. About a month ago I picked up a pint of the chalkboard paint while stopping my a local hardware store. It's been sitting on the floor of my craft room in the plastic bag I carried it out of the store in! I wasn't quite sure what I was going to use it for but I knew I had to try it!<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>On a recent trip to Michael's Craft store I spotted these 8x10 tin-like plaques with graffiti type printing on them for $2. I picked up a couple and brought them home- wheels spinning!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>I went ahead and painted them using the chalk-board paint. The paint was easy to apply and covered extremely well. I then used some patterned papers, ribbon, and other embellishments to make a little pocket to hold memos and papers. I attached a ribbon on top to act as a hanger. These are two I have already made. A couple more are in the works for Mother's Day gifts!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjma77C_QsTtYZ8YVAr8IK5LIjiNfaB93CoIMsyuj9qQzRu3OOu5FLu4hxVwgsNgSGnAsPV9AAcNh_HNjQNVck51vBf6FDKfSJsMRcTtWdQC4FsDKqtlltkhHyfokG7ozSSvXWYMDSJ/s200/il_fullxfull.314113632.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716125956090393810" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 200px; " /></div>Julie Misserihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10731555749699736756noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8135232977440969712.post-71128731596449897572012-02-26T13:01:00.005-05:002012-02-26T13:07:30.272-05:00A couple cards...<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>I've been working like crazy this week to put together some paper crafts for a showcase I'm attending tomorrow! It's been hectic but I love crafting! Here's a couple cards I just finished! I used a recent Finally Friday video over at <a href="http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/projects/videos/1794391-finally-friday-i-love-you-card/">Two Peas</a> for inspiration! I've been spending a lot of time scrapbooking and crafting. When I'm not crafting I spend my time browsing Pinterest and ETSY looking for ideas and inspiration for my home, wardrobe, and crafts. One trend I've been noticing on Pin boards is the floral trend. I find myself drawn to cute summer dresses in feminine floral prints, adorable headbands made with fabric flowers, and jewelry that includes layers, especially with flowers.<div><br /></div><div>I absolutely LOVE this bold floral pillow fabric! The geometric flowers and swirls make the the perfect pillow set for spring. Then I sprayed them using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and heat embossed them. Then I took the smaller floor and snipped a petal off. Folded the flower and fastened it together with a glue dot. I did this for the 2 smaller flowers. Then I curled the edges of the larger flowers and layered them together. I added a rhinestone gem in the middle for a little pop! </div><div><br /></div><div>Thanks for stopping by! So I decided to spend sometime this weekend cleaning and organizing my scrap space. (I will post pics of the entire space once it's done!)<div><br /><div>My ribbon stash has been driving me CRAZY! Two years I unraveled all my ribbon and rolled them onto clothespins which looked adorable and worked for a while. But I never kept up with it and the mountain of ribbon scraps has taken over!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div> I got my latest issue of Scrapbooks ETC. where I saw an idea to use a pant's hanger to organize ribbon spools. I decided to adapt this idea and used my existing IKEA pole system and a wooden dowel to create a ribbon organization system. I love the way it turned out (not to mention I only had to pay 79 cents for the dowel). In doing so I also realized my unconscious desire to purchase PINK ribbon! LOL. I plan on expanding the system as needed.</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 242px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRGQ-nF5APBmgOwSgE9pV6mk-MKWxpSLVQJhTQCb4fUNiWBjFHJVW2WS6xdf0aJ8fCKQGwtid1_IDY_FtpNrLhVYuX3JoNjudSaiSbNXepb7MXOLOEoaCCNNvJWfpIeuLN5Dz-x3n5/s400/DSCN0299.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5711382849250110802" /><div>I also came up with a system for organizing my scraps. I find that if they're not well organized I will NEVER use them! I saw this idea somewhere but can't remember where! :( I bought the Cropper Hopper Vertical Pack and labeled each individual divider (it comes with 12) by color. </div><div><br /></div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHeILuZutDSjz-zC4tRBG_R5YjOzpCxlEYy1aM7CBg9lJmJZvGXUij_t97St48b0BG09z-ejBJXdjSrr4dxU3-Du3_qMHLNUWoJV8BrfSJqohwAuzuBJpfd1jpZRwWbeEhhOONHakv/s400/DSCN0306.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5711383492268472466" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px; " /></div><div>Thanks for stopping by.
